Always fascinated by the macabre and the visceral, JOSEPH ARMSTEAD is a suspense thriller/horror author who presents the supernatural and the fantastic in a realistic manner. Mr. Armstead's writing can be classified as a mixture of "splatterpunk/cyberpunk/hong kong cinema" with influences as diverse as Robert Ludlum and Clive Barker, to Stephen King and William Gibson, to John Woo and Francis Ford Coppola.

He decries the "gore-for-gore's-sakes" school of horror fiction, seeing torture-porn as an easy cop-out for lazy storytelling. His writing centers on the themes of personal and societal alienation, xenophobia and interspecies racism, dark conspiracies, criminal violence and renegade scientific technologies. As a post-postmodernist poet, he has been published in various literary publications. Mr. Armstead is also a member of both the American Mathematical and World Futurist societies.

The author currently lives in Northern California.
