Founded in Toronto in 1993, the Transatlantic Literary Agency (TLA) is a dynamic group of professional agents with offices in Canada, the United States, and the Netherlands, and more than 20 sub-agents worldwide. The company currently represents 200 adult's and children's authors, and illustrators, across Canada and around the world.
Previous to joining TLA in January 2004, Samantha Haywood was the Assistant Rights Manager for Random House of Canada Limited selling international volume rights in coordination with 23 subagents world-wide, along with subsidiary rights. Prior to that Samantha was the Foreign Rights Manager for Westwood Creative Artists selling their client list for international publication.
Samantha represents professional adult trade writers of literary fiction and upmarket commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction and some graphic novelists but is not taking on any children’s or young adult authors as clients. Samantha also represents world rights (excluding Canada) for several independent North American publishers (select titles) and annually attends the London International Book Fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, along with regular sales trips to New York.
