The Darkest Angel is the 3rd book in the Castle Trilogy and was the BEST ONE YET! M.W. Russell continues the story of Melodie and her friends who have been left in charge of not only taking care of and running Heartworth Castle, but also fighting off evil spirits and basically protecting the Mortal world.
However, things are about to get worse..... much worse. This book was impossible to put down. I started reading last night and when went to bed it was all I could think about.... let me say I got ABSOLUTELY nothing done today. I read the WHOLE BOOK.
The Darkest Angel was heart pounding. Not only are there new characters introduced but she brings in characters from the Demonic Series (Roses at Dusk and Snowdrops Wilt at Dawn). And every character is introduced seamlessly and each is thought out and described with the utmost care.
Just when I thought I knew what was about to happen or who was bad or good I was surprised. The twists and turns in this story kept me enthralled from start to finish. I found myself at times so angry, laughing out loud and even crying. This author's ability to tell a story and bring you into it, is truly a gift. She describes the scenery and characters so well that they are easy to visualize which I think is incredibly important. I felt that my very soul was invested in finding out what happens next.
Not sure how else to describe what I just read without being a spoiler. I can say that if you are looking for a series unlike anything you have ever read then read The Castle Trilogy... and even the Demonic Series (which will give you insight to the evil characters). You wont be able to put any of them down and will feel the NEED to turn the next page.
I'm hoping that there is another book in this series.... I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT :) Can you tell that I LOVED THIS BOOK?! Thank you M.W. Russell for creating this story and sharing your AMAZING talent!!!!

Out Now! Book Three - The Castle Trilogy! The Darkest Angel!
“The effigy seared with burning force. As smoke rose to the sounds of her bubbling flesh, the image was lost in the intensity of her screams. When finally the boy released her, the only thing remaining were the sounds of her sobs and the bright glowing replica of a perfect set of wings.”
Her father is gone. The town of Cohoes is gripped in an unearthly quiet as tumbleweeds barrel the streets. Heartworth Castle is bare – of antiquities, of chattels, of warmth, of laughter as the forces of hatred bare down.

The Demonic Empire’s fold grows each passing day and purgatory is buckling under the storm. Can Melodie and Joseph protect mortality from being caught up in a power struggle that has its origins in the afterlife and beyond?

The Castle Series - A Teen Paranormal Romance!
Book One - The Transient.
Melodie Gibson never had many friends in her life — that is, not until she moved from Australia to New York. Now, they fill her every waking moment. Fresh off the plane from the other side of the world, Melodie and her widowed father have moved into Heartworth Castle, an imposing manor-turned-Bed & Breakfast in upstate New York that he inherited from a distant aunt. But it’s no ordinary castle. Full of hidden secrets and layers of history, Heartworth has its ghosts—literally. Dripping with atmosphere, adventure and epic romance, THE TRANSIENT is the first instalment in the completed “Castle Trilogy” which creates an original mythology with roots in classical and biblical literature, where the afterlife is as complicated as the present, and the rules are just as hard to follow. It centres around Melodie, a socially awkward teenager, and Joseph, a “Transient ghost” that can take human form and who was murdered by a spurned love in the latter stages of the Civil War. No one is supposed to be able to see Joseph—but Melodie Gibson does. This unexplained contact sparks a passionate romance between the two. As Mel settles into her new American home and begins making mortal friends, she falls for Joseph, but not before the Governance and some old enemies of Joseph’s begin to materialize against them. Apparently, not everyone is happy about their new found love.
THE TRANSIENT is only the first instalment; the final two novels are THE SOUL KEEPER and THE DARKEST ANGEL.

Wow...deep breath. Felt like I was along for the ride and couldn't put it down in case something untoward happened without me...go figure. Felt unreasonably overjoyed to realize that I hadn't got it all figured out and relished the surprises and twists along the way. A little bit disturbing in places too just to make sure you had plumbed a few different emotions and didn't take the story for granted...and probably question yourself too about the balance of power in your different relationships, a surprising element in a fabulous yarn. I was surprised to feel some empathy for the 'baddies' and look forward to seeing how Lucas' story evolves.

I must take a moment to catch my breath. Ms. Russell definitely put a spin on evil with this one, and it's hard for me to believe this was her debut novel, although she is not new to writing. The way I hear it she has another novel about to break into the publishing world, with another two works in progress. Wow! Sounds like an author that could keep a reader satisfied to me. Anyway, I must move on and tell you a bit about why my heart is still in my throat and I may or may not be looking over my shoulder right now. And I will try my best not to spoil it for you.
Hannah Malcolm attempts to start her life anew in a slower-paced town. Bar Harbor isn't at all what she was used to in Chicago, but that was the point. She had to find a way to escape, and possibly forget, the horrible memories she had of the death of her family. With the case closed, and no answers found, staying would have only been the end of her sanity.
With a brand new job and a few friends made, Hannah agrees to be dragged against her will to a club with new friend and co-worker, Penny Pilkington. What she found there was Marcus, a guy that any girl in the club or town would have done just about anything just to get his attention. Hannah was shocked by the evident fact that Marcus didn't seem to notice anyone but her.
Marcus' interest seemed to grow even more through the weeks, and Hannah found that she was completely besotted with the devastatingly handsome rogue. Strange things began to happen, but ignoring them was a whole lot easier than facing them and ruining what seemed to be the perfect relationship.
A brutal murder and a serious accident that almost took the life of Penny, had her nerves on end. And she realized when the bruises lasted longer and Marcus' words sounded more possessive than loving, that she may not have been seeing the real Marcus at all. She also realized that the only way to get out of the relationship may cost her her life.
With the help of a friend, and some disturbing discoveries about Marcus' secret life and her own past, she takes the chance and runs.
I can't tell you anymore, because it would spoil it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who craves a little danger in their life. Roses at Dusk will have you dreading the setting sun. It receives 5 stars from me.
The Dragons of the Yew Maze – Synopsis
King Fallon is dead. His Dragon Protectorate all but destroyed. The Kingdom of Leverforth has fallen into the acid hands of The Governor Tyrone and his legion of hideous followers. While Tyrone still holds the young Princess Emalia captive, Crown Prince Xavier has managed to escape to the far reaches of the Kingdom and beyond the veil of the Labyrinth to a hiding place on the other side. With his loyal and fearless subjects – the wily fox Ramos and old Cornelius the Badger they have managed to smuggle the six remaining Dragon eggs to safety and beyond Tyrone's' reach determined to see these last hopes for their salvation hatch.
Tyrone and his band hunt the young Prince tirelessly. He knows the legends and that if he is to keep hold of his power, he has very little time. As the eggs come close to hatching the magic of old stirs. The un-hatched dragons begin to call to their masters, drawing forth the Dragon riders to come from the upper world so they once again can ride and save Leverforth from a hopeless fate.
Meanwhile – in a world along way from Leverforth, two cousins pack their backpacks for a fun day exploring in their favour place – Hever Castle. Their minds firmly on conquering its famous Yew Maze, Jeanie and her favourite cousin Simon finish their tasks and head for the bus, not knowing that their day is about to take an ugly turn. From the moment they cross the lush green at Hever Castle and step through the statues into the cryptic maze, Jeanie feels there is something wrong. Someone is watching them. Hauntingly, impossibly it's drawing them into the maze's centre, away from life as they know it and back to an ancient time to fight in a war they never believed existed. The cousins don't yet understand but they are pivotal to a cause long since forgotten as compellingly they must answer their Dragon's call.
