The New York office of Curtis Brown, Ltd. was opened in 1914. Today the New York office and its branch in San Francisco are independent of the original London office. We represent a wide cross-section of established and emerging writers who writes in all genres, from children's books to literary fiction and nonfiction to mystery and romance. Current clients include Karen Armstrong, Louis Auchincloss, S. E. Hinton, Laurence Yep, David Lodge, Rosamunde Pilcher, Tony Hillerman, Betty Friedan, Harold Kushner, Alvin Toffler, John Nichols and Po Bronson. Among the literary luminaries of Curtis Brown's long, illustrious history are: D. H. Lawrence, A. A. Milne, Ogden Nash, Robertson Davies, Ayn Rand and W. H. Auden.
There are currently twelve agents in the organization whose lists reflect a wide range of interests and more than 200 years of collective experience in publishing. There are also separate departments for film, television and foreign rights.
