Hornfischer Literary Management, L.P., is a literary agency with a strong track record handling a broad range of serious and commercial nonfiction. HLM’s clients include prize-winning nonfiction writers, academics and journalists.

Jim Hornfischer, HLM’s president, is one of the few agents in the country who is both a licensed attorney and a former New York trade book editor. And as the author of two nonfiction books, Ship of Ghosts (Bantam 2006) and The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors (Bantam 2004), he sees the business from the author's point of view as well. This combination of experience makes him an effective advocate as well as a perceptive editorial adviser for his clients.

In fifteen years as an agent, Hornfischer has handled eight New York Times bestsellers (including two #1’s) and several finalists for major book prizes. The company enjoys strong relationships with the leading New York publishing companies.
