Email a one-page query (no attachments) that introduces your manuscript and your background, as well as the book’s market and how to reach it. If your manuscript is requested, please be prepared to email a proposal for non-fiction. Requested manuscripts should be emailed as a Word attachment, double-spaced with name, title and contact info. on each page.
Background:
A graduate of Princeton University, Emma Penick majored in Sociology, magna cum laude. After college, Ms. Penick moved to New York to begin her career as a strategy consultant. Ms. Penick then attended Harvard Business School where she focused on the entertainment industry. Her summer internship was in the Strategic Planning Group at Universal Pictures. Post business school, Ms. Penick returned to consulting to continue her focus on the entertainment industry, and then left in 2005 to concentrate on writing and editing. After working with authors to edit their books, she progressed to agenting, thereby combining past experience in and passion for both editing and business.
Terms:
Agent receives 15% commission on domestic sales. No reading fee. Offers written contract which can be terminated at any time via registered mail.
