I am excited to announce my new children's chapter book:
PROFESSOR BARRISTER'S DINOSAUR MYSTERIES #1:
THE CASE OF THE TRUNCATED TROODON
published by NIMBLE BOOKS, LLC
It is now available at Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com, Tower.com, Powells.com, and other fine online retailers!
Diligently researched and paleontologically correct, the book follows the adventure of world-famous paleontologist Reginald Barrister and third grade students Nate and Emily as they travel back in time to save a classmate who accidentally transports himself back to the age of Tyrannosaurus rex. Along the way they may also solve the mystery of Professor Barrister's curiously tail-less dinosaur fossil.
The story is both entertaining and educational. Readers will learn that Tyrannosaurus rex lived at the end of the age of dinosaurs, Parasaurolophuses communicated by hooting through head crests, and the raptor Troodon hunted in packs. The book is approximately 5,000 words and divided into six chapters, plus an extra section with fact-files on each dinosaur encountered in the adventure.
This book will be the first in a series, using adventure and mystery to teach young readers about dinosaurs and paleontology. Book two, THE CASE OF THE ARMORED ALLOSAURUS, is complete and will be released later in 2010.
In addition to writing the stories, I also illustrated them, providing more than a dozen grayscale illustrations for each book, like the Tyrannosaurus rex on this page, as well as fully painted illustrations for the front and back covers.
In my other life, I have a day job as a prosecuting attorney handling serious felony cases. However, as is the case with many lawyers, I love to write. So by nights, weekends, and the occasional lunch hour, I am a writer and artist.
I live near Seattle with my wife and our two children.
