By attacking the tourism industry and the United States strategic oil supply, Sheik Al-Assad’s brutal terrorist strikes are bringing the Western economy to its knees. To protect their financial interests, three corporate moguls from New York create the International Market Stabilization Institute, a privately funded organization operating outside the official channel. Its newest member is Mike Walton, a counter-terrorism expert who has lost his young daughter to a suicide bomber less than a year ago.
When the Canadian Energy Minister is assassinated in France and a one hundred dollar bill belonging to 70 millions of CIA’s stolen money suddenly shows up in Portugal, Mike and his team are sent to Europe to investigate. With clues pointing that the most devastating strike yet is only days away, Mike must race against time to stop the United States’ economy from total collapse.

THE THIN BLACK LINE is a 97,500-word political thriller. I have employed independent editor John Paine to make sure the novel features intense pacing and nonstop action. I attended the 2012 San Francisco Writers Conference, a pitch conference in NYC (March 2012) and the 2012 ThrillerFest. During these conferences, I had the chance to pitch my book to 14 literary agents and 4 editors. From the literary agents, I have received twelve requests for my full manuscript and two partials. The editors all requested my full manuscript. I will start sending THE THIN BLACK LINE to agents early in January 2013.

SIMON GERVAIS was born in Montréal, Québec. He joined the Canadian military as an infantry officer and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1997. Assigned to the Infantry School in Gagetown, New-Brunswick, he received extensive training in advanced reconnaissance and small unit tactics.
In 2001, he became a federal agent. His first posting was in Toronto where he served as a drug investigator. During this time and in close collaboration with his American colleagues from the DEA, he worked on many international drug related cases. However, in 2004, his career switched gears and he joined a covert anti-terrorism unit based in the Ottawa Region. During the following years, he was deployed in numerous European and Middle Eastern countries.
In 2009, he became a close protection specialist tasked with the protection of foreign heads of state visiting Canada. Among many others, he served on the protection details of Queen Elizabeth II, US President Barack Obama and Chinese President, Hu Jianto.
Simon, his wife and their two children separate their time between Ottawa and South Florida, which they consider their second home.
