Re-branding the Templar Chronicles

The Templar Chronicles series has always been a favorite of mine, earning me my first international bestseller (Der Ketzer from Droemer Knaur) and being translated into several languages to date. In the last two years I've also sold more than 75,000 ebook editions of the three books in the original trilogy and plan to continue to sell many more in the months to come.

To help with this goal, I've recently re-branded the entire series, commissioning new cover art for books 1-4 as well as putting out an omnibus edition containing the complete first trilogy. Here is the new cover art for each volume.

Note - Translation rights are still available in many territories, with the exception of Germany, Poland, and Russia. Email jnassise@gmail.com for more information.

Publishers Weekly review of BY THE BLOOD OF HEROES

Publishers Weekly finds some excellent things to say about BY THE BLOOD OF HEROES, the first book in my new alternate WWI zombie-steampunk series The Great Undead War coming in May from HarperCollins.

"Relentless pacing, nonstop action, and improbable but nifty-sounding military gadgetry (portable personal gliding devices, magnetism grenades) power an unremittingly entertaining story line that with broad appeal for history buffs, horror aficionados, and fans of steampunk."

By the Blood of Heroes - Book One of the Great Undead War

An alternate history zombie novel set during World War I that blends the take-no-prisoners heroic grit of Inglorious Basterds with the irreverent inventiveness of Dawn of the Dead…

US rights to HarperVoyager. All other rights (foreign, audio, film) available.

"BY THE BLOOD OF HEROES is a genre-twisting madhouse of horror, Steampunk SF and zombie madness that is too damn much fun to miss! Buckle up...this is a wild ride!" - Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of ROT & RUIN and FLESH & BONE

"Joseph Nassise's BY THE BLOOD OF HEROES is that rarest of books, a genuine game-changer. This book, this whole series, in fact, is a vital leap forward for the zombie genre. Nassise has not only proven his mastery of the zombie essentials, the sense of adventure and the horror of a world gone mad that form the core of the best zombie fiction, but he has done it with such jaw-dropping inventiveness that he's given the whole genre a new starting point. I would argue Joseph Nassise the most important thing to happen to zombies since Max Brooks, and that's no hyperbole. He's really that good. Do yourself a favor and get in on the ground floor with this series, because Madman Burke and his crew are about to take you to hell and back." - Joe McKinney, author of DEAD CITY and FLESH EATERS

SUMMARY:
At the end of 1917, the increasingly desperate Germans introduce a new gas to the battlefield: T-Leiche — “corpse gas” — that radically alters the face of the war. Unlike other chemical weapons that attack the living, T-Leiche resurrects the bodies of the dead, giving the enemy an almost unlimited, if not quite fresh, source of troops.

When legendary Allied pilot and war poster-boy Major Jack Freeman is shot down and taken captive by the Germans, veteran Captain Michael “Madman” Burke is the only man fearless and wild enough to try to rescue the American Ace. With a small squad of heroes — his right-hand man Sergeant Moore, Clayton Manning, the filthy rich big-game hunter turned soldier, and professor Dan Richards, Tesla protege and the resident authority on all things supernatural — Burke must traverse the putrid ground of no man’s land to infiltrate the enemy’s lines.

Using an experimental dirigible, the team faces incredible danger and finds risk and peril at every turn, including ruthless traitor smugglers and marauding bands of the Kaiser’s undead. But only when they arrive at the prison camp is the true importance of their mission unveiled…

EYES TO SEE - Jeremiah Hunt #1

All other foreign and film rights available.

“I couldn’t stop reading — will have you leaving the lights on when you go to sleep.” –USA Today bestselling author Carrie Vaughn

“Brings urban fantasy to a new level. Heartbreaking, deeply insightful, powerful, and genuinely thrilling. Joe Nassise has just raised the bar for the whole genre.” —Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestseller of The Dragon Factory

“A great read and unlike almost anything else I’ve read in urban fantasy: It’s hard-boiled and dark, definitely its own beast. Damn, this man can write! I’ll be standing in line for book two.” —Kat Richardson, bestselling author of the Greywalker series

“Gritty, grim, yet surprisingly personal and poetic, Eyes to See is like nothing else in its field. Make time for this one.” —Seanan McGuire, NY Times bestselling author of October Days

“At last—something new under the urban fantasy moon. Nassise’s visceral prose and dark, gritty settings propel the blind Hunt and his unique ghostly companions, Whisper and Scream, through an urban nightmare where nothing is what it seems.” —F. Paul Wilson, NY Times beselling author

“Joe Nassise’s driven, sardonic hero Jeremiah Hunt sees a whole lot more than dead people in Eyes to See. Vividly set in Boston, the novel follows Hunt through a labyrinth of undead dangers and unexpected emotion as he seeks his missing daughter and finds an unearthly serial killer. The climax, both thrilling and moving, will stick with you.” —Alex Bledsoe, author of The Girls with Games of Blood and Burn Me Deadly

In an urban fantasy that charts daring new territory in the field, Jeremiah Hunt has been broken by a malevolent force that has taken his young daughter and everything else of value in his life: his marriage, his career, his reputation. Desperate to reclaim what he has lost, Hunt finally turns to the supernatural for justice.

Abandoning all hope for a normal life, he enters the world of ghosts and even more dangerous entities from beyond the grave. Sacrificing his normal sight so that he can see the souls of the dead and the powers that stalk his worst nightmares, Hunt embarks upon a strange new career—a pariah among the living; a scourge among the dead; doomed to walk between the light of day and the deepest darkness beyond night.

His love for his departed daughter sustains him when all is most hopeless, but Hunt is cursed by something more evil than he can possibly imagine. As he descends into the maelstrom of his terrifying quest, he discovers that even his deepest fears are but prelude to yet darker deeds by a powerful entity from beyond the grave…that will not let him go until it has used him for its own nefarious purposes.
