RECENT EXPERIENCE: From 2006-2012, I was Contributing Writer for food/travel at the Independent Weekly (IndyWeek), the awardwinning alt-weekly for Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC. Wrote a monthly column, Food Chain; contributed features/profiles/restaurant reviews; and conceived/reported multiple cover stories for quarterly DISH (food) issues.
PAST EXPERIENCE: From 2000-2002: Assistant Editor in the New York office of Da Capo Press, an imprint of Perseus Books, focusing on music journalism, food writing, and world/military history. From 1999-2000: Articles Editor at Mirabella, directing book reviews and author coverage, until the magazine was folded by Hachette. From 1994-1999: Project Coordinator and Graphic Designer at the North Carolina Writers' Network; Assistant Editor at Brightleaf Book Review; design associate at Running Feet Books; editorial reader under Shannon Ravenel and Kathy Pories at Algonquin Books; and editorial intern to Will Blythe at Esquire magazine.
