Curtis Brown has been in business since 1914 and is one of the top agencies in the industry. Since arriving in the Fall of 2005, I have been looking to build my list, particularly in science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance. I'm also looking to take on a bit of literary horror (think Peter Straub/H.P. Lovecraft, not splatterpunk).
I'm also looking for great young adult and middle grade novels, and funny, smart pop-culture non fiction.
I also recently started handling British rights to our agency's children's list.
For 2008, I will be attending the following writers conferences:
Pennwriters, http://www.pennwriters.org/menus/menu_conference.html
The Alaska Writers Guild conference

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

|
Note as of 4/08: My response time for mailed queries is now between 6 to 8 weeks. My response time for requested partials is now 5 weeks. Thank you for your patience.
I am actively seeking new clients.
Query letters by regular mail are preferable. I will respond only if you include an SASE.
I do accept email queries. My address is gc at cbltd.com
Please keep your email query brief and do not include any attachments. If you include attachments I will probably not read your email.
I review emailed queries within 10 days of receiving them. I ONLY respond with requests. If I'm not interested, I will NOT respond. I have found that responding with a "no" leads to angry, hostile emails.
If you do email me a query and cc other agents, it will probably be caught by our super smart spam filter here at CB and I will never see it. And then you will miss out on having me as your agent. Do you really want to lose that opportunity? I thought not.
