Position Profile:

The Academic Marketing Assistant is responsible for marketing all classical studies, anthropology, and food titles, as well as supporting an academic marketing manager. This position is also responsible for processing all reviews that come in, fulfilling review copy requests, and sending out weekly review roundups. The Marketing Assistant works within a team of six marketers who handle all of Bloomsbury’s academic title output for the Americas. We are looking for a hardworking, trustworthy, and reliable individual with strong Microsoft Office skills who can make a significant contribution to our publishing program.

Primary Responsibilties:

• Take the lead on processing review and fulfilling review copy requests - this candidate should have an interest in publicity
• Travel to select academic conferences in the US and Canada
• Organize promo materials and send books to author events
• Create and print author flyers
• Research mailing lists and names for the database
• Marketing database maintenance and data entry
• Do market research for particular titles and subjects
• Project manage catalog production and distribution
• Produce and deploy email newsletters - experience with an Email Service Provider (ESP) such as Adestra preferred but not required
• Help oversee a marketing intern
• Coordinate social media activity for designated subjects
• General administration

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• 4 year college degree
• Minimum 1 year publishing experience/internship
• Solid understanding of the US higher education market
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills a plus
