Focal Press has an opening for an Editorial Project Manager position that can be based in either the NY office or the Burlington MA office. Working with Acquisitions Editors in media technology (including but not necessarily limited to the subject area of photography), the Editorial Project Manager will support the successful publishing programs in the relevant areas; details of the position are outlined below. The Editorial Project Manager should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as these are essential to collaborating with authors and different internal departments. Ours is a deadline-driven environment in an open office plan, so the candidate should be independent and assertive while also capable of working in and helping to create an enthusiastic, motivating, and productive work environment.

Our small, local Boston-area office works collaboratively in an open space that promotes cooperation and efficiency across editorial and marketing functions. Overall Role Summary
This role is responsible for:
•Supporting acquisitions editors they report to in achieving the agreed revenue and profitability targets for their editor/list
•Project management of titles from contract through publication
•Managing and delivering the agreed handover targets for the list/editor
•Liaising with key stakeholders, both internal and external
•Supporting colleagues within own department
•Potential for acquisitions work over time

Key Accountabilities
•Completes research projects on time and to agreed specifications
•Supports editors in achieving agreed targets for developing and commissioning new editions or new titles
•Responsible for keeping the publishing program on schedule through regular liaison with authors, and by maintaining and updating the frontlist plan for any given year
•Prepares scripts for handover to production meeting agreed standards, on schedule
•Ensures that any changes to projects are updated promptly in relevant databases
•Commissions peer reviews of proposals as requested by signing editors; ensures these reviews are delivered in a timely way; records the progress of all projects under review
•Responds promptly and appropriately to external and internal inquiries
•Liaises closely with production and marketing to ensure they have the information they need, when they need it
•Has sufficient knowledge of key systems to be responsible for the provision of basic reports and sales information
•Acts as a product champion (e.g, for our books) and instils enthusiasm internally as well as externally
•Accountable for managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps
•Acts as an ambassador for Focal Press/Taylor & Francis at all times, e.g., with external stakeholders including authors, suppliers, editors etc.
