 Requirements: 
This position manages all aspects of online marketing for a literary publishing house, including content creation and overall running of its brand, its social media, D-to-C audience building, B-to-B communications, organic and paid search, per-title campaigns, author communication in regard to the digital opportunities, liaising with editors about individual titles and with the central digital marketing team about group-wide tools and initiatives.

Social Media campaigns, Verticals Management, and D-to-C audience growth
• Create daily content for Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and other social media channels, measuring effectiveness and growth;
• Manage email marketing for Picador Reader’s Group list, Picador’s monthly bookseller specific newsletter and genre or author-specific email blasts;
• Experimenting with new platforms to determine opportunity;
• Develop content for various campaigns and analyzing all campaigns to determine metrics and best practices.
• Manage backlist promotions and ebook discounting coinciding with new titles by authors, current events, anniversaries, and prizes.

Title-Specific Online Marketing Campaigns
• Coordinating with publicity to develop online marketing campaigns for lead titles, including online partnerships, blog outreach, and researching new audiences for publicity opportunities.

Author Training and Asset Building
• Creating video, audio, and online content for authors, in addition to training them on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, blogs).

Other
• Publisher branding initiatives
• Cross-title partnership
• All aspects of paid search advertising
• Landing page optimization
• Create backads for upcoming reprints and ebooks
• Liaise between FSG, Holt, SMP, and Macmillan’s digital marketing team regarding tools, strategies, cross-group coordination and group-wide initiatives and goals

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively within Picador and within the Macmillan group
• Able to synthesize information across the media industry and adapt to changes in the industry and technology
• Able to communicate to customers and readers across different social media platforms
• Able to evangelize and train colleagues in new digital skill-sets and tools

Experience Needed:

• Experience in digital marketing for publishing, including paid search, ranking and analysis tools, SEO, Adobe Creative Suite, proper coding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and link-building strategy

Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree; 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
