The successful candidate will take responsibility for the success of a set of neuroscience journals by working with academic Editors and using their knowledge of the field in order to identify and deliver development opportunities. Strategic thinking, excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships are key to the role. This is an exciting and varied position that allows an individual to remain close to the cutting edge of scientific advances and work closely with leading academics while gaining exposure to all aspects of the industry in a successful and growing open-access publishing environment. Specific responsibilities include:
� Build knowledge of the field and the relevant scientific communities to identify development opportunities and translate them into actions to maintain a competitive advantage. This will involve engaging with senior scientists and obtaining their advice.
� Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with academic Editors, Editorial Boards, society executives and other key contacts in the field the journals operate in, with the aim of building a journal�s reputation and increasing submissions.
� Acquire and launch new journals.
� Support the management of the journals by being the primary contact for Editors and handling contract renewals.
� Ensure journals are promoted through all relevant avenues including representing the company at scientific conferences.
� Liaise with internal departments to plan and implement tasks.
� Other duties as required by manager.
� A biomedical degree or equivalent.
� Computer literacy, with experience of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
� Experience of the STM (Science, Technology and Medical) publishing industry.
� Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
� Experience of developing and maintaining productive and friendly relations/partnerships.
� Highly effective time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
� Ability to take responsibility, working on own initiative.
� Self-starter with intellectual curiosity.
� A positive, can-do approach to problem-solving in both daily tasks and more complex troubleshooting.
� Strong organisational skills, and attention to detail.
� Experience of communicating effectively with senior scientists desirable.
