best-reviewed author. Last Friday, Sublette was at BEA to announce the
paperback release of his award-winning *The World That Made New Orleans: From
Spanish Silver to Congo Square*
(Lawrence Hill Books, an imprint of Chicago Review Press, September 1, 2009)
with a signing. The hard cover garnered tremendous literary excitement—the
Boston Globe said it’s, “the best argument yet for why we need to
save New Orleans.”

 

Sublette was also promoting his
forthcoming title, *The Year Before the Flood: A Story of New Orleans*
(Lawrence Hill Books, an imprint of Chicago Review Press, August 29, 2009).
Praised by The Nation for being a “sonic sleuth,” Sublette draws an
intense and exhilarating portrait of the last year New Orleans was whole in this irreverent and
darkly comic memoir.
